Yes, that’s correct. The Iranian Graphic Designers Network was founded with love and passion back in 2000, during a time when the internet was still a new phenomenon in Iran. At that time, Yahoo was incredibly popular, and we started our journey through a Yahoo Group named “Artistiran.” This group quickly grew to over 1,500 designers, creating a vibrant online community focused on sharing creative ideas, ads, and designs.
We provided resources on various topics, including color management systems, book publishing, and the latest updates in technology. Apple products were a key focus for us, as we supported iOS users and promoted the use of Apple devices in Iran. One of our proudest achievements was publishing the first Farsi-language book about the iPhone. Additionally, we operated under the brand “Iran Macintosh,” becoming a hub for Apple enthusiasts and offering support for Apple products across the country.
Our vision extended beyond local borders. We aimed to connect with ICOGRADA, the international design association, and collaborated with other prestigious graphic design associations in countries like China, Russia, Mexico, and more. These collaborations enriched our network and helped us exchange ideas and practices with global communities.
The Iranian Graphic Designers Network’s signature red brand color symbolized the energy and passion behind our work. Over the years, we organized workshops, training sessions at educational and university campuses, and group classes. We also held group exhibitions and graphic design competitions, creating opportunities for designers to showcase their talents and learn from each other.
Through dedication and hard work, we built a network that provided valuable services and resources to the creative community. Our efforts bridged local and international design practices, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and innovation. There’s so much more to share about our journey, and I’ll provide further details in future posts.
