The Early Days: Pioneering Digital Platforms
When IGDN was founded, web platforms were in their infancy. Initially, the website experimented with Joomla and other platforms before settling on WordPress. This decision marked a turning point, as WordPress offered stability and scalability. The screenshot below showcases the website during its 2016-2021 phase, a period marked by server issues and data loss. Despite these challenges, IGDN maintained its presence through Instagram, amassing over 31,000 followers.
The Visionary Behind IGDN
Pouya Golestaneh, the founder of IGDN, played a pivotal role as a mentor and influencer in the Iranian graphic design community. At a time when few designers collaborated with others, Golestaneh championed the idea of sharing knowledge. He introduced groundbreaking technology like Microsoft’s Surface Studio and emphasized the importance of innovation. His belief that sharing knowledge fosters growth became a guiding principle for IGDN.
Supporting Artists and Social Causes
IGDN has consistently stood by artists and social causes in Iran. During the tragic Plasco Building fire in Tehran, the platform organized a “Call for Entry” to support the victims. Similarly, during the Mahsa Revolution, IGDN showcased Iranian artworks, graphics, and cartoons that resonated with the movement. These initiatives reinforced IGDN’s commitment to being a voice for both artists and social justice.

At the end of 2024, GraphicIran.net relaunched with enhanced features, including a search engine, networking tools, and international collaboration opportunities. With a focus on over 17 countries, IGDN aims to connect professional designers worldwide. The platform’s mission is clear: to empower its members with resources, opportunities, and a global network.
