The International Council of Design (ICoD) unites 114 independent organizations across 59 countries, representing the global design community. Founded in 1963 as Icograda, ICoD is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, and is the largest representative of professional designer entities worldwide.
ICoD fosters collaboration and dialogue on design’s critical role in society, culture, and the economy. Over the decades, design has evolved from traditional graphic disciplines to digital, interactive, and interdisciplinary applications, transforming how design impacts the world.
Our membership has grown from 28 European associations to a diverse network including educational institutions, design councils, and government bodies. Today, ICoD addresses the complexities of the modern design landscape, advancing initiatives that reflect its legacy and meet the needs of a connected, global community.
